I remember seeing David N. surfing around Newport/Huntington,paddling out with a lit cigarette in his mouth. Does anyone remember that? Now THAT was cool! Not too PC today though.

Just talkin' about it this very morning!Always smoked Kools. Would light, up throw his noserider in the water, paddle next to the Southside, cig in mouth, get to the lineup, wait for a set, flick the butt, turn arond, take off and get ten all the way in, hair still dry. Saw it a hundred times being born and bred in H.B. and learning to surf at the pier. Not p.c. today but the coolest thing in the world in '64-66.The dude had STYLE!!!
